Mexico City, November 8, 2020.- So far, nine federal entities, including Querétaro, have seen an epidemic increase of Covid-19 in recent weeks, of which seven are experiencing a rebound effect, said José Luis Alomía, director of Epidemiology.
"We call it a rebound effect because at the time, this increase in their epidemic curve that they had had in recent weeks had already surpassed their first or second peak, that is, they have an upward trend and it is greater than what was observed in previous peaks," he explained.
These entities are Chihuahua, Durango, Aguascalientes, Mexico City, Coahuila, Querétaro, and Zacatecas.
He clarified that this rebound effect does not necessarily mean that the Entity is at maximum risk because in previous behavior it could have been in orange and remain in orange
In some entities, such as Chihuahua and Durango, they did move to maximum risk and are on a red traffic light.
He indicated that in week 44 there is a decrease in the epidemic, which is also seen in entities with a rebound.
"However, that decrease is not yet marked enough to say that there is control as such," he said. 300,000 tests that simultaneously detect Covid and influenza purchased. The Government will acquire 300,000 PCR tests that simultaneously detect Covid-19 and influenza A and B, reported José Luis Alomía, General Director of Epidemiology.
The official indicated that a purchase order was made a week and a half ago, and the so-called multiplexed tests are about to arrive, which have the capacity to identify the Sars Cov 2 virus and influenza A and B in a single sample.
The idea, he specified, is to carry out good monitoring of the syndemic with the entry of the influenza season into the country.
He said that these tests will be implemented in the respiratory disease monitoring health units, which manage the sentinel model for influenza surveillance; there are 475 units.
He also indicated that the purchase of rapid antigenic tests to detect Covid-19 is planned, with results obtained in 15 minutes.
Before, he asserted, they will test the 200,000 rapid antigenic tests that will be donated to the country by PAHO-WHO.
He added that these tests cost 30 percent less than PCR tests.
He added that PCR tests are acquired by the Government for 280 to 300 pesos per test, with consolidated purchases.
