As the coronavirus pandemic continues to spread, scientific research is gradually revealing more data about the SARS-CoV-2 virus and the disease it causes, Covid-19. A recent study shows that people with blood group O positive and Rh positive would have greater protection against the disease.
These conclusions were obtained from the work of scientists at the Valencian Institute of Infertility (IVI), based in Spain, and represent a great advance in combating the pandemic, as it would allow efforts to prevent contagion to be redoubled, in parallel with vaccination campaigns.
The studies showed that the incidence of the disease was lower in people with blood group O, while it was significantly discovered that the Rh negative group was more frequent among those infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Thus, experts can draw initial conclusions that people with Rh negative blood have a slightly higher risk of contracting coronavirus than those with Rh positive blood.
