As of Wednesday, April 14, Mexico accumulated 210,812 deaths from Covid-19, which is 518 more than the previous day, health authorities reported during the evening conference on coronavirus in the country.
Likewise, it was detailed that the country added 5,113 infections in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 2,291,246 confirmed cases.
With these figures, Mexico ranks fourteenth worldwide in the number of infections and third in the number of deaths from the pandemic, behind the United States and Brazil, according to Johns Hopkins University in the U.S.
Regarding the details of the vaccination plan, the Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-Gatell, explained that as of 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 13, 553,926 doses of the Covid-19 vaccine had been administered nationwide.
He also reported that since the beginning of the national vaccination strategy, a total of 12,407,625 doses have been administered. It was also highlighted that 2,632,006 people have completed their vaccination schemes.
Lack of physical activity increases risk of dying from coronavirus
Lack of exercise is associated with a higher risk, in case of Covid-19, of developing a more severe form of the disease and of dying as a result, according to a study conducted with almost 50,000 patients published this Wednesday.
People who had been physically inactive for at least two years before the pandemic were more likely to be hospitalized, need intensive care, and die from the novel coronavirus disease compared to patients who maintained physical activity, according to the study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine.
Among the risk factors for severe disease, only advanced age and a history of organ transplantation outweigh physical inactivity, according to researchers.
