A fume hood is a piece of equipment that protects the operator and the environment from contaminated, harmful, or toxic gases/vapors; as well as from dust, aerosols, and corrosive substances that can be generated during processes or experiments, either by specific chemical reactions or by the use of volatile substances potentially hazardous to health. Air flows through the front window, from outside to inside, is filtered, and expelled by the exhaust fan.
